The central image of Born to Run — two rearing horses by British painter George Stubbs — is more than just beautiful; it’s part of a legacy. Stubbs, an 18th-century anatomist and artist, was obsessed with capturing the spirit of the horse. He spent years understanding and sketching them in intricate detail, not out of just science, but reverence. His paintings, though technically precise, pulse with wildness — with a deep understanding of what it means to be both powerful and vulnerable, fierce and free. His racehorses are icons of defiance, kicking up dust against the backdrop of a world that still tries to tame wild things.

Horses have always carried meaning for us — not just across landscapes, but across myth and memory. They symbolize freedom, strength, and the soul’s longing to roam. In many cultures, they’re seen as guardians of the in-between: messengers between the known and the unknown, the domestic and the wild. We created Born to Run to celebrate that energy — the ancient pact between human and horse — and to honour the part of ourselves that was never meant to be fenced in.
