Created to celebrate the unbridled spirit of adventure, Born to Run blends vintage-washed, heritage prints with the untamed energy of two rearing racehorses by British painter George Stubbs. The antique banners, etched with mottos of rebellion like “Don’t Fence Me In”, are our spirited nod to the wild west and the open road. The beautiful, airy backdrop behind the horses is actually a scenic lithograph from the 1897 World’s Fair, and the faded florals and golden wheat were taken from an 1800’s farmers diploma. The pen-and-ink stars and upturned horseshoe are also antique drawings from the same era. And as a final, playful touch, we added a prancing mother horse and foal — a symbol of unbound freedom and joy. The whole design is trimmed in a washed heritage plaid, reminiscent of sun-faded chambray and days at home on the range :)

100% viscose (derived from plant fibres such as bamboo and wood). Machine wash gentle or handwash and hang to dry. Iron to finish if needed.

Kimono measurements: length 118cm, width 78 cm (across back, underarm to underarm). Model is 5’7” for reference.

Wear it over a flowing maxi dress, heeled boots and layered silver jewelry. Leave your hair down in soft, tousled waves perfect for a romantic dinner or maybe sipping whiskey solo at golden hour. And as the seasons change, layer it over a fine knit sweater tucked into straight-leg denim. Add suede ankle boots and you’re set for a day spent crunching through leaves with a warm drink in hand.

Stubbs, an 18th-century anatomist and artist, was obsessed with capturing the spirit of the horse. He spent years understanding and sketching them in intricate detail, not out of just science, but reverence. His paintings, though technically precise, pulse with wildness — with a deep understanding of what it means to be both powerful and vulnerable, fierce and free. His racehorses are icons of defiance, kicking up dust against the backdrop of a world that still tries to tame wild things.

Horses have always carried meaning for us — not just across landscapes, but across myth and memory. They symbolize freedom, strength, and the soul’s longing to roam. In many cultures, they’re seen as guardians of the in-between: messengers between the known and the unknown, the domestic and the wild. We created Born to Run to celebrate that energy — the ancient pact between human and horse — and to honour the part of ourselves that was never meant to be fenced in.
